Deep Democracy is a willingness to welcome everything, including the difficult, disturbing, disgusting and unpopular. This includes all parts of ourselves, our communities and societies.
The mainstream and the marginalised within a group or community are given space. All voices, feelings, dreams, body symptoms, altered states of consciousness, and synchronicities are considered important.
Wisdom in the whole
Great wisdom is found in the whole. By bringing awareness to all perspectives we can find that wisdom. It takes experience and practice to notice and facilitate the signals, roles, and the structural dynamics occurring between the parties involved
“For organizations, communities, and nations to succeed today and survive tomorrow, they must be deeply democratic – that is, everyone and every feeling must be represented.”
Arnold Mindell, The Deep Democracy of Open Forums
